MJ Joyner - Basketball Coach & Director of Player Development

Meet Mafiaion “MJ” Joyner, a passionate basketball coach and dedicated director of player development. MJ’s basketball journey began at Kellogg Community College, where he showcased his talent for two years before continuing his career at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. After an impressive collegiate career, he transitioned to professional basketball, playing for the Kalamazoo Galaxy, Owensboro Thoroughbreds, and Derby City Distillers over the span of two years. With over a decade of experience in officiating basketball at the high school, middle school, and AAU levels, MJ brings a wealth of knowledge to the game. As a coach and trainer, he has spent the last five years focusing on developing young athletes, providing both basketball skills training and specialized weight room instruction. His commitment to nurturing talent and fostering a love for the sport is evident in every session he leads. MJ’s goal is to empower the next generation of basketball players, helping them reach their full potential both on and off the court.

Mohammed “Mo” Albagami - Basketball Coach

Mohammed “Mo” Albagami is a dedicated basketball coach with a wealth of experience and a passion for player development. Currently serving as the Assistant Basketball Coach at Kellogg Community College, Mo has been a vital part of the coaching staff for the past four years. 
 
 Mo’s journey in basketball began in high school, where his passion for the game led him to become a manager for player development at Western Michigan University. This experience provided him with valuable insights into the intricacies of college-level basketball.  
After his tenure at Western Michigan, Mo transferred to Kellogg Community College, where he showcased his talents as a player for two seasons. His hard work and dedication culminated in a scholarship transfer to Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where he completed his collegiate career. 
 
 Upon earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Mo returned to Kellogg Community College as an Assistant Coach. In this role, he has been instrumental in guiding players both on and off the court. He specializes in player development, designing tailored basketball training workouts, and overseeing strength and conditioning programs in the weight room. 
 
 With over 15 years of combined playing and coaching experience at the high school and college levels, Mo Albagami is committed to fostering the growth and success of his players, helping them reach their full potential on and off the court.

Brian Stetler - Director Player/Coach Recruiting & Basketball Coach

Coach Brian Stetler brings over 13 years of basketball coaching experience to the court. For the past five years, he has been dedicated to developing young talent as the head coach for the 7th Grade A and 8th Grade A teams at Marshall Middle School. 
 
 Before his time at Marshall, Coach Stetler co-founded Hop’s Hoopers AAU Basketball, where he served as the head coach for the 13U, 14U, and 15U teams, alongside his role as the director of operations for two travel teams. His commitment to player development is evident, with over 80% of his Hoopers players moving on to college, and 40% continuing their athletic careers at the collegiate level. 
 
 In addition to his substantial coaching roles, Coach Stetler has contributed to the Marshall Jr Basketball program and focused on personal growth in the sport. He gained valuable experience working at the McDonald’s All American Games, served as a Breakthrough Basketball Counselor, and attended high-level coaching clinics. 
 
Through a proven track record of success, Coach Stetler is dedicated to fostering solid leadership skills both on and off the court, helping young athletes and coaches achieve their goals.

Mike Johnson - Director of Basketball Operations & Basketball Coach

With over 20 years of experience in coaching and mentoring young athletes, Mike Johnson has dedicated his career to fostering talent and promoting the love of basketball among youth. As the Director of Basketball Operations, Mike’s expertise lies in creating structured programs that emphasize skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.  Mike also is passionate about helping developing coaches with a collaborative effort approach.  This environment engages and challenges everyone to give their best.  
 
Throughout his career, Mike has worked with players of all ages, focusing on personalized training that caters to their individual strengths and areas for improvement. His passion for youth development is evident in the many success stories of athletes who have benefitted from his guidance, both on and off the court.  After graduating from Wayne State University with a degree in business and playing football for 5 seasons Mike started a company called Xceleration.  Xceleration was Pioneer of sport performance training.  Working with youth, high school and college athletes in the Metro Detroit and Flint areas.  
 
 Mike believes in the importance of instilling positive values in young athletes, teaching them not only how to excel in their sport but also to be leaders in their communities. His commitment to developing well-rounded individuals has earned him respect among peers, players, and parents alike. 
 
 In addition to his hands-on coaching experience, Mike has also taken on leadership roles in various community organizations, that impact hundreds of aspiring players each year. He continues to advocate for youth sports, emphasizing the role of basketball as a tool for personal growth and community engagement. 
 
 Mike Johnson remains a passionate advocate for the power of sports in shaping the lives of young people, and his unwavering dedication to basketball and mentorship continues to inspire the next generation of athletes.

Marty Moga - Basketball Coach

Coach Moga grew up in a basketball town, where the sport was at the heart of the community. He played high school basketball under the guidance of two Hall of Fame coaches, who instilled in him a deep understanding of the game and a passion for coaching. 
 
After high school, his varsity coach and mentor saw potential in him and immediately offered him a coaching job, marking the start of his coaching career.  
Coaching came naturally to Coach Moga, and he spent five years as an assistant coach for the varsity team, helping several athletes advance to play at the collegiate level. His coaching philosophy is rooted in a strong belief that leadership and mentoring are more important now than ever, especially in today’s social climate. He is dedicated to helping young athletes navigate the challenges ahead, using his gift for coaching to develop both their athletic skills and personal character.
 
 At just 19 years old, Coach Moga had the opportunity to head coach multiple varsity games, earning the distinction of being one of the youngest to do so. “I tell people I’m the youngest to ever do that, but I’m not sure if that’s true,” he says with a smile. Throughout his career, he has led teams to multiple league, district, and regional titles, including a perfect 28-0 state championship team.  
 
Coach Moga is known for his ability to build and maintain strong player-coach relationships. His approach is a balance of caring mentorship and firm accountability, ensuring that his athletes not only improve on the court but also grow into responsible, driven individuals off the court. He is a master of pushing his athletes to realize their full potential through tailored coaching and a deep understanding of each player’s unique needs.
 
His core values—mental toughness, hard work, grit, a competitive spirit, accountability, leadership, and life skills—guide his coaching style and decision-making.
